Nostalgia and hope flow in abundance through these colorful works of art. Tuzzi uses a collage like vignette style to create visual altars in each piece of this newest body of work, entitled “Midnight Choir”. The title inspired a song by Leonard Cohen and spirit inspired by gospel music, this body of work is imbued with the hope, catharsis and community that is felt when one hears the voices of a choir rise up together in unity. Dutra encapsulates classic Hollywood and simpler times in her sketchy portraits painted in technicolor. Inspired by the great actors and actresses of the golden age of Hollywood, the show also features her newest body of work inspired by the show The Big Valley. Alongside her paintings are stream of consciousness poems about the past, the present and her thoughts on how times have changed.
