Gary Cheadle speaks animatedly about weather, especially rain, and can often be found gazing out the window towards the sky in anticipation of a downpour. His heartfelt fascination with weather and seasons is well reflected in his work. Cheadle exclusively paints and draws landscapes, reflecting the season that the picture was made in. While his favorite scenes include rain or snow, he has also painted bodies of water and is always sure to include some green foliage, with the occasional cozy house nestled in a remote setting with picturesque surroundings.
Born in 1941, Cheadle was a Humboldt County native and practiced at The Studio from 1999 until his passing in 2020.
